Located on the main railway line between Oslo and Bergen, Geilo welcomes more British skiers than any other Norwegian ski resort. It is a small yet busy town and its two ski areas, with a total of 20 lifts and 39 runs, are located on either side of the valley. It is superb for families and skiers of all standards. There are snowboard parks and a sensational run that drops 378 metres. A designated children's area, the Troll Club, has lifts, moguls, jumps and is perfect for tobogganing. Other activities include husky dog sledding, tobogganing and kite skiing. The town has excellent restaurants and accommodation, ranging from luxury log cabins and hotels to more basic self-catering apartments.
